Beautiful cathedral but be prepared to pay to enjoy the inside. If this is your thing it's not a problem, but for a passing tourist with no religious interest like me its not worth the price. However you cannot deny it a super impressive construction.
Stunningly beautiful old building. I can well imagine that services there must be very special. We did the tower tour which was well worth the additional expenditure. Our guide, Will, was very knowledgeable and engaging. The last of the spiral staircases is very narrow and confined but still manageable by someone of a heavier build like me! The views outside were stunning and the views inside back down into the octagon were something not to be missed. Thank-you.
Beautiful cathedral with interesting individual chapels as well as lovely architecture as well as gorgeous Christmas tree when I visited. Loved the Lady chapel, with a reminder of the history of faith in England in the headless statues. Thanks for the wonderful Abbess who founded Ely cathedral so long ago and all those who continue to maintain it so we can be inspired by visiting.
Stunning cathedral which rises out of the fens and can be seen for miles around. Definitely worth exploring for an hour or two, and the extensive grounds are a good place to sit and watch the world go by on a sunny day. Easy to find, right in the middle of the town centre.
This is a fantastic cathedral, in the center of Ely. It is superbly maintained, and has some of thebest stained glass windows around. (there is also a stained glass window museum, within thecathedral). You also have the Octagon Tower, and the main West Tower which do tours for you to climb them both ( although there are a lot of steps to complete the tour). You will find plenty of places close by that serve food and drink.
