Trying to trace family of crew members of 115 Sqn. My uncle (V.J Watson) was shot down K.I.A on24th March 1944 along with of his crew. 2 crew members survived and became P.O.Ws. Geach and Gray .... would love get in touch with any relatives.
Had a lovely visit on Sunday for the memorial service, was great to see where my uncle fred flew from during the second world war, Sue was very welcoming and her and her late husband had done an amazing job, good luck with your next venture and we look forward to seeing you again.
A real gem. Very good museum with lots of information, photos and exhibits and all for free.
Tucked away at the back of a commercial estate, this small museum collection is a poignant reminder of sacrifice and selflessness. It is small but well worth the detour. Personal items, letters and paintings are on display alongside the mechanical and mundane trappings of war - aircraft parts, munitions and uniforms.
One star off for being VERY hard to find. Persevere and if lost, ask!The display will appeal to anyone with an RAF WW2 bomber interest. A small display of artifacts from the RAF Witchford base 1943-45. Lots of good and some sad Lancaster stories and full records of those who flew from here.
