Lovely pub, with great friendly staff and a wide range of food. Family friendly too with decent baby changing facilities and a kids menu.It is super busy on big sports days, so plan your trip. You can book a table in advance.

I've been to the Hereward a few times and never really expected great service but honestly didn't expect it to be as appalling as it was tonight. My friends were treated poorly and one of them even told to leave over entirely false claims as soon as we got there. I don't know what kind of power trip the owner is on but if you're not a familiar face to him already then I'd avoid this pub as you're also probably not welcome.These were my leaving drinks before I move to another country so thanks for the wonderful send off (that I enjoyed at the Royal Standard instead) x
Honestly quite a nice place with reasonable prices, been there a quite a few times, would normally give more stars. Had a horrible experience tonight though, was trying to forget about it, but I cant, and I have no other way to express my voice. With an absolutely baseless claim, the owner threw my friend out for snorting drugs in the bathroom. He had absolutely no evidence and I would like to make it clear, there is absolutely no way that he would touch anything like that. Completely shocked to be honest.I understand the owner doesnt want that kind of behaviour, and he was reasonably professional about it, but still disgusting to have the accusation. Now about 30 people in Ely have him labelled as a drug addict, and Im frustrated at the injustice. A really poor call on his behalf; just a shame.We had been there legitimately about 1 minute. I had just been passed my pint, and then they wouldnt even give me a refund. Shocking and humiliating.
Chef Chris was very attentive and very helpful. The food was very delicious. Service was great. I would recommend the Hereward to all of my friends. I've read the previous reviews and I strongly disagree with the bad comments We've been several times and it's been very clean and good service. The Hereward has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
